What's on?
Welcome!
Welcome back everyone!

We hope you have had a wonderful Summer break. We are excited to welcome lots of lovely new faces as well as familiar ones as we start our topics; September- PSED, and October- Mathematics! We can’t wait to deep dive into these areas of learning and explore the Autumn season with some wonderful activities.

During our first month back at preschool, our activities will be based around the area of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Development. We will get to know our new and existing preschoolers and their families! Here we can get to know each others hobbies, interests, personality traits, chat about our families, our home life, our beliefs and religions, and what makes us wonderfully unique! We will be getting used to our daily routines and exploring both our indoor and outdoor areas to the fullest. During our second week we will be celebrating national Teddy Bear Day, by enjoying our very own teddy bears picnic snack. We will be spending time together in smaller groups during circle times and getting to know our key worker as they make us feel settled and happy, let the adventure begin! We will be using this time to explore our environment and community, what beautiful things Norland has to offer including the upcoming scarecrow festival.

Throughout October we are delving into our next topic; Mathematics, all whilst learning through play of course! October is the perfect time for an Autumnal scavenger hunt! We will be going on crunchy listening walks and doing seasonal baking, searching for leaves of varying sizes and colours, counting them together and weighing out all the treasures we find, such as acorns, pinecones, and mini pumpkins. As we approach Halloween we can count as we add to our witches cauldron, we can explore heavy and light as we scoop and pour, we will be measuring which of our spooky spiders have the longest legs, and going for walks around our beautiful village as we go on a (no-so spooky) friendly ghost hunt!

In January we had a visit from Calderdale Food Hygiene and we are proud to say we received a 5 star rating again. All our staff take part in regular training for Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering as well as Food Allergen Awareness.
