What's on?

Welcome!

Welcome back everyone!

We hope you all had a wonderful half term! We are excited to start our fun filled final summer term, our new monthly topics are: Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED). We are also introducing our Word Of The Term: Respect. What does the world respect mean to us? How do we respect not only our peers but also ourselves? And why is this such a crucial skill for us to learn before starting big school?

Throughout June we are putting PSED at the centre of everything we get up to. This month we celebrate our uniqueness, our backgrounds and what makes us truly special in our own way! We will be celebrating Father’s Day, Pride, and our Word Wednesdays are filling up with the most beautiful stories that we cannot wait to share!

In July we are getting physical as we work on our gross motor skills (this means large movements that we make with our bodies!). Will we be embracing every part of our outdoor space as we celebrate Wimbledon and put our own tennis skills to the test. This is another wonderful opportunity for us to practice our word of the term as we uplift and respect our peers and all their success. Let’s get ourselves on the podiums and feel proud of our hard work! As we reach the end of term, we are deep diving into the summer fun as we enjoy beach and ocean play, lets role play by creating our own Norland Airlines and take to the skies on holiday!

Other news in Preschool - Our outdoor area is undergoing some big changes! As Spring / Summer comes, we are looking at improving our outdoor area to create outdoor learning opportunities. You may have seen on our social media pages, after a lot of thought we decided to say goodbye to our pirate ship. It was fundraised for and has served its purpose, but it now needs a lot of fixing and after risk assessing it often gets cornered off because of it’s nature it becomes very slippery when wet. After talking with staff and children we are excited to use this space to create a huge mud kitchen. Our current small mud kitchen area would then be turned into an art space, and the sensory woods will become a small world literacy area perfect for talking about stories and role play.

In January we had a visit from Calderdale Food Hygiene and we are proud to say we received a 5 star rating again. All our staff take part in regular training for Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering as well as Food Allergen Awareness.
