What's on?
Welcome!
Welcome back everyone!
We hope you had a wonderful February half term. We are so excited to welcome all our little scarecrows back to preschool for a very fun filled 6 weeks! Spring is just around the corner, and we are welcoming it with open arms, and as the warmer weather approaches we have started giving our outdoor space a bit of a makeover, ready for all of the outdoor fun! (See ‘Other news in preschool for details’)
March:
Our topic this term is Literacy. This month we celebrate World Book Day, so of course this makes March the perfect month to deep dive into some wonderful story books, we are excited to chat with friends at Morning Time about some of our favorite story books, and even trying our hand and making some of our own. Whilst doing so we are discovering which is our dominant hand and how to hold our writing tools correctly! We have some marvelous story books lined up for our Word Wednesdays including Mr Wolfs Pancakes, We’re Going On An Egg Hunt, and many of our Little People Big Dreams books! This term we will be encouraging lots of descriptive language and working in small groups to listen out for quality conversations between peers and staff.

Towards the end of term we are celebrating Mothers Day and of course, Easter! We have some Spring themed play in the woodland area, Easter egg hunts, Mothers Day crafts, and lots of walks around the village as we look our for signs of Spring.

Other news in Preschool - Our outdoor area is undergoing some big changes! As Spring comes, we are looking at improving our outdoor area to create outdoor learning opportunities. You may have seen on our social media pages, after a lot of thought we decided to say goodbye to our pirate ship. It was fundraised for and has served its purpose, but it now needs a lot of fixing and after risk assessing it often gets cornered off because of it’s nature it becomes very slippery when wet. After talking with staff and children we are excited to use this space to create a huge mud kitchen. Our current small mud kitchen area would then be turned into an art space, and the sensory woods will become a small world literacy area perfect for talking about stories and role play.
In January we had a visit from Calderdale Food Hygiene and we are proud to say we received a 5 star rating again. All our staff take part in regular training for Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering as well as Food Allergen Awareness.
